Orthotist
Duties
and Responsibilities: Orthotist
and/or prosthetist is a healthcare professional who is specifically educated
and trained to manage comprehensive orthotic and/or prosthetic patient care.
This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan,
implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice
management. ABC’s Certified Orthotist, Certified Prosthetist and Certified
Prosthetist/Orthotist credentialing programs are accredited by the National
Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA.)
Education: Master's programs offer curricula preparing the student for
entry-level clinical practice. A master's degree is intended to prepare
students for professional clinical practice followed by a residency that is
either clinical- or research-based. There are also blended tracks that provide
a mix of the practice and research tracks. Students are advised to contact each
school for further details on the academic degree designation provided by the
university.
Reflection:
I don’t think I’ll like to be an Orthotist because the things they do
look scary and kind of difficult.
