Ophthalmic Technician
Duties
and Responsibilities: The Certified Ophthalmic Technician® (COT®)
certification level is JCAHPO’s second core level designation. In other words,
COTs have generally either worked as a COA for at least a year or graduated
from a CoA-OMP, CMA, or CAAHEP accredited training program for Ophthalmic
Technicians.
Salary:
$43,701
Education:
Ophthalmic technicians can gain training through two methods. One is by
obtaining an entry level position as an ophthalmic assistant and getting
promoted to the position or by getting the position right from the start. In
this method the ophthalmic technician gains the majority of training through
the job, self-study, and ophthalmologist mentoring.
Reflection: I think i would like to be Ophthalmic Technician because their career sounds interesting.
